Bangladesh Cricket Board said on Wednesday that wicketkeeper-batsman Mushfiqur Rahim opted out of the ongoing tour of Zimbabwe citing a family reason.
Mushfiqur earlier decided to change his mind and stay back to play the T20Is after initially opting out from it to make him available for the upcoming tour of Australia.
However, Mushfiqur had to change his mind for a family reason.
“Bangladesh batsman Mushfiqur Rahim will miss the remainder of the tour in Zimbabwe for family reasons,” said BCB in a statement on Wednesday.
Mushfiqur will leave Harare later today (Wednesday) and travel to Dhaka. He will miss Bangladesh’s three ODIs against Zimbabwe at the Harare Sports Club on 16, 18 and 20 July and also the three-match T20 international series that starts at the same venue on 23 July,” it added.
Mushfiqur earlier decided to stay after the ODIs as it would have been difficult for him to complete the 10-day mandatory bio-bubble if he wanted to return after the ODIs.
The BCB and Cricket Australia (CA) had agreed on the condition that cricketers must be in quarantine ten days before entering the tour’s bio-bubble in Dhaka.
